Geneva Half Marathon Relay Overview

The Geneva Half Marathon is a unique relay race that features a two-runner adventure. In this exciting running event, RUNNER 1 will tackle RELAY SEGMENT 1, while RUNNER 2 will take on RELAY SEGMENT 2 of the 13.1 Mile Course.

The Course is divided into two segments. RUNNER 1 Segment (6.5 ish MILES) and RUNNER 2 Segment (6.5 ish MILES).  The Relay Exchange is at the Finger lakes Welcome Center near where the finish/start is located.

RUNNER 1 will start the race and run the first 6.5ish-miles of gradually inclined City and Country Roads that are marked, and volunteer assisted. At the finish of the first loop RUNNER 1 will hand off the timing belt to RUNNER 2 at the transition point back at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center. Volunteers are there to assist you. Here RUNNER 1 will have the ability to use a potty, get a drink and cheer on RUNNER 2 as they tackle loop 2 of the course. Since RUNNER 1 is back at the Welcome Center they can await there for RUNNER 2 to come to the finish

At the 6.5ish-mile transition, RUNNER 2 will start their leg of the race that will take them on 6.5ish-mile journey that encompasses the same several gradual inclines/declines RUNNER 1 experienced. You will head back into the City of Geneva and cross the finish line at the same place you started. RUNNER 1 should (if they want) meet you somewhere around MILE 13 and cross the finish line with you.

Since the Relay Exchange/Start and Finish area are all at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, there is no need to drive anywhere.  Everything is in one area.

Yes! We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Both runners will eventually wear the timing belt.  RUNNER 1 will start the race with it on, then take off and pass to RUNNER 2 at the Relay Exchange.  Please do not pull this belt off.  There is a clip that snaps together, thus no need to tie it around you, wear like a sash etc...  The timing belt must be returned at the finish line.  Each runner will also have their own bib to wear, so during the race, each runner will have two bibs.  One pinned to them, then the one that has the timing chip on the timing belt.

No, due to timing, safety and insurance constraints you are signed up for the relay and are participating in only one relay segment of the race. This is a USATF Certified event with top-finishers and prizes  and course support that does not allow for deviations.
